I'm thrilled to announce the ongoing development for Chevereto V5. This new major version is all about being able to do more with Chevereto and to bend it in ways we never seen before, helping you do more with Chevereto and adapt it to a wider range of products.
Chevereto V5 introduces a full-featured user-based API, turning Chevereto into a stronger base technology for all your media driven projects. Instead of spending your time (or tokens) building and maintaining a complex media backend, you can focus on your users and product while Chevereto handles the heavy lifting. Our existing feature set is already extensive, and V5 opens that capability to custom projects and third-party integrations.
# Chevereto V5.0: September 2026
The release of Chevereto V5.0 (pachuco) will happen in September 2026 and it evolves from elevado. Chevereto V5.0 will require PHP 8.2+ and it will carry a short development cycle.

# Chevereto V5 licensing
Chevereto V5 is a no-extra-cost upgrade for all existing subscribers (Chevereto Pro and Chevereto Lite). No change whatsoever will happen to your current subscription fee. If you are not yet a subscriber, current pricing remains available until V5 is released. Updated pricing will apply to new subscriptions after release.
# New release cycle
Starting with Chevereto V5 we are changing our release cycle motto. We are going to break with the stagnation caused by long-term release cycles and we are going to launch several major releases per year, with our focus on more relevant features including but not limited to the following (this is not a definitive list):
- V6: Subscriptions
- V7: Feeds (RSS)
- V8: Roles & Groups
- V9: Comments
